What Are Internationally Economy Editions?
As the name suggests, they are editions of our books available internationally (i.e., outside the US) at a much lower
price than the regular editions of the same books.
How much less expensive are International Economy Editions?
This varies, but generally International Economy Editions are roughly 70% of the
price of the regular edition of the same book when purchased outside the US.
Why are they so much less expensive?
A large part of the price you pay for a regular book goes directly to the retailer
(even if it's an online retailer). Also, the cost to purchase an ISBN and enter
a book into the distribution system is considerable. Engine House International Economy Editions have
no ISBN and are not available from ordinary retailers, so we pass on these savings.
What is the difference between an Economy Edition and an International Economy Edition of the same book?
Our print service prints some kinds of books only in the US. In particular, our Economy Edition books are always printed in the US. Such books have to be mailed from the US in order to fulfil a foreign order; unfortunately the postage added by our print service for mailing to international destinations is quite exorbitant, with the result that Economy Editions are frequently more expensive than Retail editions for our international customers. Our print service can, however, print other kinds of books in a number of other countries, with a consequent reduction in postage costs. Our International Economy Edition books can be printed abroad; consequently in many countries they can be purchased at a price that represents a considerable saving over the regular Retail Edition.
What is the quality like?
The paper and size are identical to our Retail Editions. International Economy Editions are also typeset according to the same exacting standards that we apply to our Retail Editions. As a practical matter, there is no discernible difference in quality between International Economy Editions and Retail Editions.
Are these abridged editions?
No. Economy Editions contain the complete text of the standard edition of the same book.
What books are available in International Economy Editions?

If the same book is available as an Economy Edition and an International Economy Edition, which should I choose?
The quality of International Economy Editions is slightly higher than for ordinary Economy Editions. However, if you are in the US the Economy Edition is likely to be slightly less expensive and is probably to be preferred. If you are outside the US, most likely the International Economy Edition will be the better buy.
